Stop on over at Night Owl Romance and read the new interview of - Deidre Knight - Romance Novel Writer and owner of The Knight Agency - She will tell you about her life.
/Oregon News Articles/ - HILLSBORO, OR, April 24, 2007 - Hello Deidre,
The girls of Night Owl Romance are pleased that you have granted us an interview
We would love to get to know you.
Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?
DEIDRE:
I'm an author and literary agent, a true southern woman because I was born and raised in Atlanta. I now live in a small, quaint town, Madison, Georgia, where the upcoming series "October, Road" has been partially filmed. At least the pilot. :) But I'm claiming it. Other shows and movies filmed in my town were "I'll Fly Away" and "In the Heat of the Night" (which I actually worked on many moons ago—and in another lifetime altogether.)
I'm blessed with an amazing husband who supports me in all my crazy endeavors, whether they be agenting, writing, crocheting or walking sixty miles in three days as I recently did (well attempted!) in the Breast Cancer 3 Day. I enjoy being outside when it's warm, hanging by the pool or swimming or walking. And in the winter, I love snowmobiling and want to learn to snow ski better.
If you could be one of your characters - Who would you be? And why?
DEIDRE:
Ah, this is a surprisingly easy one for me. I would be the FBI linguist Hope Harper. I mean, right off the bat I love languages, and even recently bought Rosetta Stone to brush up on my French. But along the way, I've realized I can do mini-lessons with the Rosetta program (for free) on Tagalog (the Pilipino language), Swahili, German... basically you can sample all kinds of languages. So, yes, I admire Hope's ability with language. She's the only character in the series who is truly successful in mastering the aliens' language of Refarian.
More than that, though, she's just my kind of girl. Totally tough, but not afraid of her femininity. She backs down from absolutely *nothing*--she's tried surfing and snowboards despite being almost blind. I'm just so happy that her book, PARALLEL SEDUCTION is finally hitting shelves in a few weeks. Another word for Hope would be *spirit*. She has it in spades, and I would love to be even more like her. Besides, who wouldn't find it cool to work for the FBI, at least for one day???
What's your favorite genre to read?
DEIDRE:
Easy—romance. Although I do also like bigger books that have romantic elements, novels like THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE which remains an all-time favorite or PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. But generally? I'm a Lisa Kleypas, Julia Quinn, Gena Showalter, Susan Grant, Catherine Spangler, etc and, so on, fan. I hate even naming authors because I love the work of so many (which is why over time I try to spread the love in different interviews! LOL!)
Who or what influences you when you write?
DEIDRE:
Probably my hormones! LOL! Seriously—some days I'm just in a brain fog and I can tell it's just some kind of hormonal deal. Other times I'm so prolific and focused, it's almost scary. Music has always played a role in my writing, but not nearly so much lately. Not sure why not, and I'd like to get back to that.
