O'Keeffe's Company, the Sisters, Oregon manufacturer of Working Hands, Healthy Feet and Life out There crèmes, announced this morning that it has received the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHA) prestigious SHARP award for its fifth year in a row.

SISTERS, OR, March 27, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- O'Keeffe's Company, the Sisters, Oregon manufacturer of Working Hands, Healthy Feet and Life out There crèmes, announced this morning that it has received the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division (OSHA) prestigious SHARP award for its fifth year in a row. SHARP, which stands for Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program, provides an incentive for Oregon employers to work with their employees to find and correct hazards, develop and implement effective safety and health programs, and continuously improve. Currently, 61 employer locations in Oregon participate in SHARP and 83 facilities have graduated from the program in Oregon.

"We're pleased to rank amongst the SHARP-certified manufacturers who are working together towards workplace health and safety," said Tara O'Keeffe President of O'Keeffe's Company. "By incorporating health and safety into our corporate strategy, we're able to not only protect our valued O'Keefe's team, yet we're also able to remain competitive, produce a better product and add greater value for our customers. Workplace health and safety is vital to our sustainability as a company."

"I'd recommend the SHARP program to any manufacturer that values their business. In today's economy, staying ahead is what makes or breaks a company, and for those of us who have worked long and hard to develop innovative and excellent product solutions, we value our achievements and are pleased to be thriving as a sustainable business in today's economy."

Recent studies have shown that employers with strong health and safety systems report not only reductions in injuries and illnesses, but also improved positive bottom line benefits including lower workers' compensation costs, increased productivity, increased employee morale, lower absenteeism and employee turnover.
